Want a vitamin boost that's also good for the heart? A pomegranate and beetroot juice are natural health and energy boosts and a new product combines the super-fruit and super-vegetable into a tasty smoothie.

The pomegranate and beetroot juice is made by UK firm PomeGreat, and is surprisingly sweet despite its 13% beetroot content. Each 1litre carton is enriched with PurePlus, a unique 100% natural organic pomegranate extract.

The very latest research by scientists at the University of Reading found that 100g of beetroot juice caused a significant lowering of blood pressure in both the short-term and long-term. This follows earlier studies at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, showing that pomegranate juice also reduces both systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels. PomeGreat PurePlus pomegranate and beetroot blend is now available in Tesco, Waitrose and Booths, priced at £1.49 a litre.
